Thursday 14th November 2013 was indeed a memorable day for the people of Scheme, for the evening saw over 150 residents of the Scheme Community come together on the grounds of Gaspar Enclave, for three hours of prayer, fellowship, interaction and sharing.
The evening began with a beautiful prayer service organized by Audrey D’Mello, with ‘Thanksgiving to God’ as its main theme. Being also Children’s Day, this was followed by a lively, sprightly dance by some of our enthusiastic children, well-trained by the Director of a Dance Academy, Mrs. Jean Pinto of the Scheme community.
An interesting ‘Ice –Breaker’ to help the people to meet & interact with each other was organized by Elaine Charles, with those having met and interacted with the largest number of people that evening, winning attractive prizes. There were special gifts for the children as well. This was followed by a group discussion session, ably conducted by Joe Cordo & Luis Miranda. Those attending were divided into 11 groups and each group shared how the Scheme Community could reach out to the Aged and Housebound, Senior Citizens, the Youth and the Children of our community.
This was followed by a General Sharing, with one person from each group sharing the ideas & suggestions of the group, which were displayed on a large screen. It was heartening to hear the varied & creative suggestions & recommendations that emerged from this inter-action & which the animators of the Scheme community look forward to putting into action, in the near future. Delicious & sumptuous refreshments, were served and the evening ended with a delightful game of Housie, with generously donated cash prizes.
Grateful thanks go out to all our animators for going to each home in the Community, to our enthusiastic comperes for the evening….Joe Cordo & Luis Miranda, to Elaine Charles for the co-ordination & the games, Mrs. Inez Gupta for the lovely prizes donated by them, to Brian Sound for the sound & lights, to Jervis Decorators for the lay-out, the residents of Gaspar Enclave for their co-operation & support and to all our Scheme Community members for making it ‘An Evening to Remember’!!
