On 22nd December, the residents of the Malla Community comprising children, teenagers, adults (young and old) – gathered at the Malla Cross around 7 p.m. to usher in the spirit of Christmas.
A surprise awaited for some of us as we saw a beautifully laid out crib around the foot of the Cross which was painstakingly set up by a dedicated band of members from the MALLA Community. The “Year of the Eucharist” was the theme which was well reflected in the posters around and for protective reasons, the entire crib was covered with a nylon mesh – which did not obstruct the view or the layout.
As a prelude to the Carol singing, the Rosary was recited in thanksgiving for the many graces and blessings received by members throughout the year and also for the souls of the dear departed of the Community and who in their own way had contributed towards the formation of the Community.
The recitation of the Rosary was followed by Carol singing with nearly all members present being provided with “Santa” caps – which lent a festive note to the occasion. Popular carols were sung by all present with a lot of joy in praise and glory of the coming of the Child Jesus. The gathering dispersed after light snacks were served.
Truly a befitting way to herald the birth of Christ !!!
